I was watching an Apple Video online today of Jony Ive, Senior VP of Design and he used a great quote that got me thinking about my own life …
Simplification is not the removal of clutter but bringing order to complexity.
So how often do you over-complicate your life? How often do you have too many choices and end up doing nothing? How often do you put too much on your plate or schedule? Have you made your life too complex for your own good?
I think I have on numerous occasions and I know for me it is my Achilles heel. I believe we let our lives become too complex when we are not pursuing our purpose, when our direction is not clear or when we have deemed everything in our life as A+ priorities.
So rather than trying to be the champion of everything at once, pick one to be the champion at for now then be good at the others. This list will change from time to time, however if you endeavour to be great at everything all at once, you risk being fair at a few and over complicating your life.
