When I often ask the question to audiences ‘Who is stopping you from being the best you can be?’, the answer 95% of the time is YOURSELF. Now the answer yourself is a broad answer, so what specifically is the one characteristic that is stopping you from realising your dreams, desires and destinations?
Now that is a different question that requires you to be specific, to look a bit deeper into your soul and see what it really is, for once you know the root cause then you can do something about it. However all too often people tell you a great broad answer, which sounds logical and valid only to never to have it specific enough to really address.
So dig a bit deeper. The one I see often and have been guilty of myself in the past and to be perfectly honest suffer from time to time these days is comparison. How often do you compare yourself, measure your personal worth and achievements against those around you? It is never a fair measure, unless you are competing in some sort of timed sporting event.
I heard this great quote … Your negative mind uses comparison to control you. It is so true if you want to focus on what does not count then focus on what you cannot control. However if you want to control the controllables in your life then measure progress. Measure how far you have come, what you have improved upon and any shifts you have made, with yourself, not with those around you have done.
