With the passing away of Nelson Mandela late last week, I took some time out to reflect on some of his most famous quotes and this one in particular on being optimistic stuck with me …
“I am fundamentally an optimist. Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one’s head pointed toward the sun, one’s feet moving forward. There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair. That way lays defeat and death.”
It got me thinking about what it takes to be a Passionate Leader in our own lives with the phrase … keeping one’s head pointed toward the sun, standing out for me. For you to be passionate about anything for a long and sustained period of time you need to know where you want to go, what you really want to achieve and why you are doing it in the first place.
