If you are like me, there is always a great deal to do, projects to work on, commitments to honour and promises to deliver on. Just thinking about everything that needs to be done can be tiring, overwhelming or even frustrating. For some people faced with this dilemma sometimes they retreat, surrender, become angry, avoid or over plan by reorganising the To Do List!
So the one question I would encourage you to ask yourself is What is Your #1 Priority, Right Now? What priority do you need to focus on in your life right now so that you can become the best you, you can be for yourself and for those who mean the world to you?
Is it …
- Your family
- Reconnecting with a partner
- Your health
- Your finances
- Your career
- Your business
- Giving back to yourself
- Pursuing those things that fill you with joy
- Your skills, knowledge and expertise
How many areas are you doing just OK in and how many are you excelling in?
Over the Christmas Break, I worked out for me it was my health and fitness. I was OK in it, exercised when I could, ate healthy most of the time and had great people available to work with me in this area if I needed. However, I just knew it was one of the areas holding me back from being the best I could be for my family, for the audiences I stood in front of each week and for myself, so I just decided to make it a real #1 Priority.
What does that mean? I decided to exercise every day for a week and a week turned into 2 weeks and then into 3 weeks and now it has been every day since the 1st January. I stopped eating or drinking anything with sugar, dairy, gluten and alcohol until I get to my goal weight. I am not saying you should do what I am doing, the magic happens when you make it a priority and then you create a daily ritual that leads you step by step towards your vision.
What is your priority and what do you need to do today to demonstrate to the world and yourself that it is a priority through your actions not words?
