This week’s BLOG is inspired by a situation I found myself in last week. I was at my favourite Juice Bar, waiting for my juice and a lady alongside me was $1 short on her order and the change I was just given was, you guessed it was a $1. So I just gave it to one of the girls behind the counter, no big deal, just a small random act of kindness. But it was to that person, it made their day, it brought a smile to their face and prompted a spontaneous high five. I know the lady was happy, but I was joy filled. I was the one that really got rewarded.
Now I know it is great to have goals that are focused on your desires and destinations, so today I would like you to stop and thing about the deeds you would like to do for others. I know we all get busy and a funny thing happens in my world when I get busy – I stop being grateful and generous. I am not sure if the same applies to you.
So this week it is about being generous with your time, expertise or money. It could be a one off activity or gift, it could be volunteering or it could be a random act of kindness, it is all about giving. The simple act of giving takes for that moment the focus off self and onto others. However that simple act of generosity, it tends to come back to you in ways that you could never imagine.
So here are my 5 for this week …
- Once a day, make someone’s day with an unexpected act of kindness.
- Donate a large sum of money to a worthy cause anonymously.
- Provide a scholarship to someone to pursue his or her passion.
- Pay someone’s toll or coffee or meal order without him or her knowing it.
- Create a Goal Setting Program for schools to run with their students.
I love to hear what the goals are that you would like to achieve, let me know!
